The East
Meadow 8U Futures Tournament began in the summer of 2007,
giving rise to travel teams in the 8U Division throughout
Nassau County. This weekend long tournament is a baptism by
fire, giving most girls their first exposure to tournament
style softball. Building on the success of this tournament
the 8U Division was added to our own
Summer Sizzle
Tournament, as well as North Bellmore North Merrick's
Fall Tournament.
Utilizing
an
electric powered pitching machine and a five pitch rule,
along with a two base maximum and a five run rule in the first
five innings (along with mercy rules in the fourth and fifth
innings) really keeps these games moving at a fast pace.
The
Futures Tournament usually takes place the last (or second
to last) weekend in
June, right around the time school lets out.
Registration flyers will be available in early May.
